Methodology
This ranking is designed to find the best undergraduate business school available in the state of Florida. The US has a listing of 1,664 schools offering bachelor's programs in the area of business administration. For the state of Florida, a list of over 100 schools was obtained and then vetted based on the following four criteria:
Accreditation: Researching accreditation is an important step in narrowing down potential undergraduate business school choices. Accreditation can directly affect educational value and degree brand recognition. Each undergraduate program in this ranking is accredited by one of the six regional accrediting organizations recognized by the US Department of Education, specifically the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges. Additionally, each business school was ranked upon whether it holds an additional third party business accreditation from one of the top business school accrediting institutions: IACBE, ACBSP, and AACSB. AACSB is widely regarded as the gold-star standard among business accreditations, thus the schools that achieve this accreditation were given the highest scores.
Affordability: As college tuition costs keep rising, affordability is a growing concern. Each program was vetted based on the estimated undergraduate tuition and fees reported to the National Center for Education Statistics for full-time students. This tuition data directly affects each student's return on investment, and thus is an important factor to review. When a college offers an in-state and an out-of-state tuition rate, the in-state tuition was used, in order to show students the lowest tuition available. The lowest tuition and fees in this ranking is $2,878 per year, the highest came in at $45,724, with the average resting at $15,491.
Average salary: Going to college and obtaining a degree is primarily for the long-term benefits. One major benefit of a college degree is the potential financial benefits. This data was collected from PayScale's College Salary Report to find the average early-career salary reported by recent bachelor's graduates from each college or university. This data, combined with the estimated tuition cost, gives parents and students a good picture for a possible return on investment. The highest early-career salary reported that was used in this ranking is $56,500, with the average resting at $43,324. Any program without a reported PayScale early-career salary was calculated at zero because of no available third-party data.
Prestige: This data was collected from two of the most highly-acclaimed sources in national educational rankings, US News and World Report and The Princeton Review. Schools were valued on their score within the US News and World Report's Best Undergraduate Business Program Ranking and whether they were included in the Princeton Review's Best Southeastern Colleges Ranking.
All the data was collected, weighted equally, and then averaged for this ranking. Here is our list of the Top 25 Undergraduate Business Schools in Florida.
