Methodology
The goal of this ranking was to get the best on-campus degree available in the area of marketing management. A list with over 260 school programs was obtained and then vetted based on the following six factors:
Estimated Tuition Cost: When looking at future degrees, program affordability is an important factor to consider. Each program was valued based on the estimated tuition, with information gathered from the most recent date given on the specific program/school website. The lowest tuition on the list is $0 and the highest came in at $139,734. The average tuition cost from this top 50 ranking is $55,410.
Accreditation: Accreditation always matters. Not only is it an outside party giving testimony to the quality of a program, but it adds to the brand of a school, which inevitably adds to each student's marketability. Every single program in this ranking is accredited by one of the six regional higher accrediting agencies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. All but one school in this ranking is accredited by AACSB International, seen as the most elite business schools in the nation.
PayScale Early Career Salary: This data was taken from the 2015-2016 PayScale College Salary Report. This report gives a ranking from over 1,000 schools by salary potential. This gives students an idea on the average salary from graduates early on in their career, as well as their mid-career salary. Adding this criterion with the average cost gives students a good idea of the program's potential Return on Investment. The lowest early career salary in the ranking is $46,200 with the highest at $122,000. The average early-career salary in this top 50 ranking is $78,119.64.
Prestige and Awards: Data for this criterion was taken from the rankings on US News and World Report and the Princeton Review. Schools were valued on how many rankings and awards they were given from two of the most prestigious education sites today. The awards counted in this criterion is National Universities and Regional Universities from US News and World Report and The Best 380 Colleges, Best [Regional], Colleges that Create Futures, and Colleges that Pay you Back from the Princeton Review.
Overall Graduation Rates: Each school's overall graduation rate was collected from the National Center for Education Statistics. This factor shows a pattern on student satisfaction. Were students motivated to finish their degrees and shown the value of the time and money they were investing? The higher the graduation rate, the higher perceived value the students had in their time, energy, and financial investment.
After gathering the data for each criterion, all data was weighted the same and then put in ranking order. By weighing the accreditation, tuition cost, early career salary, prestige and awards, and graduation rates, we are confident that this ranking can help potential marketing managers find the highest quality on-campus degree for them.
